Sketching Scavenger Hunt : Clue # 1

clue number one: Storytelling in Perspective

chose two public places on campus that have meaning to you.
The two places I chose were The Quad and College Avenue.

I chose the quad because I think that all the trees and grassy areas are beautiful and the older buildings remind me of the old homes in Beaufort, where I live. Everything is very green in this area, perhaps because of the color contrasts between the redbrick buildings and the deep greens of the trees and grass.

I chose College Avenue because I travel down this little street every day multiple times a day. I see it busy and empty, I've seen it covered in snow, and also in pollen covered flowers. It is a beautiful area on campus and one of the best people watching places on the UNCG campus.

five styles

This assignment was to take five styles utilized by different artists and create five compositions of the buildings we had to do diagrams of for the previous assignment. This building is the Mossman building. My inspiration pictures come from Drawing and Designing with Confidence A Step-By-Step Guide by Mike W. Lin, ASLA.

Thumbnails of Mossman

These are 12 thumbnails I created of the Mossman Building on the UNCG campus. I sat inside the lobby and drew the things I saw around me.

This is one of the assignments from the group discussions of A Whole New Mind by Daniel Pink.

We were supposed to draw the person next to us with only 5 lines, no more, no less. I then doodled on the page some interesting cartoon characters.

The one in the bottom left is a kid in an oversized home-made dinosaur outfit with a bunch of kids (the circle faces) laughing at him. there is also an "i-man" with a fro-like mass on the top of his head (originally flipping off the world) throwin' da deuces as he rides an exploding bottle cap! There is also a demon-like creature that is yelling to no one after finding a nice little present in his path. My imagination continues to ramble on throughout my sketchbook. :)
